The process of SFBT generally involves some or all of the following dimensions and strategies:

  • Visualising the future you desire and the changes you want to see
  • Identifying the better times, or when you least experience your difficulties
  • Exploring what you are doing in the better times, that might be helping them to happen
  • Finding ways to continue, develop and extend these helping strategies
  • Noticing (often in close detail) what is working for you
  • Considering new and alternative problem solving strategies
  • Encouraging you to acknowledge and celebrate your successes
