WAYSFORWARD IN UNIVERSITIES

ABOUT WAYSFORWARD

WaysForward MoodBooster is an updated version of the earlier WaysForward Solution Focused Self Help Program. The WaysForward program was originally available on DVD-ROM, and was sold through an educational software retailer to educational psychologists, to schools, and to child and family therapy teams within social work. The program was then developed as an online resource, and made available to the Counselling and Wellbeing Services in thirty universities in the UK and Ireland.

SOLUTION FOCUSED BRIEF THERAPY

Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a leading therapeutic approach within Social Work, Health, and Education in the UK, the US, and in Europe. Inspired by the work of Insoo Kim Berg and Steve de Shazer at the Milwaukee Family Therapy Centre in the US in the 1980s, the approach was taken up and championed in the UK by family therapists within social work, by educational psychologists within education, and by child and adolescent mental health teams (CAHMS) within health. The approach is now used extensively in (among others) mental health settings, in substance misuse services, on domestic violence programmes, and in the rehabilitation of offenders. The approach has also been adopted by the corporate world for coaching, executive mentoring, and team building.
